During the Covid period, I received a call from a lady in St Saviour who was struggling with an uncomfortable conservatory. From the outset, I explained that to keep pricing fair and competitive for island residents, I would need enough enquiries and installations to make regular visits to Jersey viable for the company I was working for.

Using photographs, WhatsApp and a few simple measurements, I provided a quotation, and Janet was happy to proceed—subject to my promise that we would return to the island once additional work had been secured.
To help make that happen I was a given advice to advertise in the Jersey Evening Post. The response was fantastic, enquiries followed, and what started as a single installation has now grown into over five years of continuous work across the island.

Along the way, I met with Nigel Philpott, a Jersey resident, who helped guide me through licensing and the GST requirements. Since then, I have personally surveyed more than 300 Jersey homeowners who’s aim has been to transform their conservatory, that were either too hot in summer or too cold in winter, into a comfortable usable space all year round.

I’ve revisited many of the homeowners as possible after installation—well over half of all projects—and it’s been genuinely rewarding to see just how pleased people have been with the results.

On a personal level, Jersey has become a place I truly love. From the railway walk and sunsets at Corbière, visits to the War Tunnels, the zoo, and time spent at the cafés in Archirondel and Plémont Bay, the island has always made me feel welcome.Evenings have often been spent at the JMI Mechanics Institute enjoying a few frames of snooker—including games with World Seniors Champion Aaron Canavan—and I was proud to help support local talent by negotiating a sponsorship deal for young Archie Grier, who I’m confident has an exciting future ahead of him.

I’ve met with the team at Channel 103 and just recently committed to an advertising campaign to spread the name of Ambivo throughout Jersey.For me personally as Chris Cash this is very much a long-term one relationship with the island and its people.
